About Us

The Center for Training and Professional Development's (The Training Center) mission is to provide and connect organizational and individual development opportunities to the University community. Building world class leaders and organizations for over 20 years, The Training Center offers programs and services that cover an in-depth variety of professional development needs.

The Training Center

Why turn to the Training Center for your professional development needs?
  • The Training Center's staff represents over 80 years of experience and expertise in training, professional development, and consulting. Your organization has the opportunity to tap into what we've learned from our successes, how to avoid pitfalls, as well as gain access to the latest and most effective models, tools, and techniques in the industry.
  • The Training Center partners with the best facilitators, speakers, and consultants. Our presenters are matched to your organization based on their expertise in the requested topic as well as their abilities to involve participants in active learning that effectively transfers into the workplace.
  • The Training Center's consultants lead strategic initiatives, reorganize/realign units and organizations; lead retreats, critique work processes, and provide individual coaching services. Preparation includes in-depth discussions with the unit or organization as well as assessments, focus groups, and interviews and secondary research. The Training Center consultants are top-notch and move units and organizations forward—at an affordable investment cost.
  • The Training Center does not offer "off-the-shelf" programs. Programs are customized based on surveys and assessments that ask stakeholders to describe their strengths, challenges, and most urgent needs. The programs presented get to the heart of the issues—maximizing the opportunity for organizational change and improvement.
  • The Training Center knows the University community and its needs. Supervisors and managers follow unique policies and procedures in managing their staff. Program content, discussions, case studies, and other formats incorporate the "real world" that participants live in.
